Good Food Project
Inspiring the next generation
A model community garden that envisions a healthy Central Louisiana in which all children grow up with an awareness of and access to nutritious food. We invite schools and students to experience our community garden first-hand at the Food Bank through educational field trips. These trips offer students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves with hands-on gardening activities and lessons.
Try Virtual Learning with videos aligned with the Louisiana Believes science curriculum.
How to partner with the Good Food Project?
Since the program's inception in 2011, we strive to provide community non-profit organizations and school garden partners with start up materials for an onsite garden. If interested in learning more, please contact a Good Food Project staff member at 318-445-2773.
Harvesting Hope
All food collected from our project sites goes directly to Food Bank clients and other local nonprofits.
-
18 community gardens provide neighbors training and a space to grow their own food
-
4,021 lbs of produce was grown in our demonstration and community gardens last year
-
School gardens at 36 schools teach kids how to grow their own food and enabled them to taste many foods that were new to them.
Hydroponics
We are looking to incorporate new technology to grow food through hydroponics - a practice that is becoming more important to learn in our unstable climate.
Volunteer at Our Garden
The Good Food Project depends on its amazing volunteers to help the community grow! From building garden beds to leading garden education classes, our volunteers help us make a difference.
